Raya and the Last Dragon is about a world in which dragons and people both exist. A long time ago the world was in a fight with creatures called Drunes which left people and dragons turned to stone. The last dragon, Sisu, created a gem that defeated the Drunes and brought the people back, but sadly not the dragons. 500 years later and the world is now divided and the gem is in the protection of the nation Heart. A mistake is made and the world is further broken. The Drunes come back and wreak havoc. Raya sets on a journey to find the last dragon and bring peace back to the world. Along the way, she meets new allies and friends that turn into a family.

Raya and the last dragon was a wonderful movie to watch. It is a Disney movie and is marketed towards little kids, but anybody of any age can take joy in the story it tells and illustrates. The writers did a good job with their characters. They all have some depth to them no matter the protagonist or antagonist. I enjoyed watching Raya make mistakes as a child and then seeing how those mistakes shaped her as a young adult. Her lack of trust was valid and rooted in experience so it was understandable as to why she did not trust easily. I loved her strength and the power she exuded. It took a lot of strength and power to pull off what she did in the end. If it was anybody else in her shoes the movie would not have ended the way it did.

The graphics might have been my favorite part. At times it really felt like I was in their world. The water was mesmerizing and pulled me into the story even more. The details were so unique and well done. It is hard to describe how exciting the details in the art makes me.

Another thing I enjoyed about the movie was that it is rooted in Asian culture, and not places well known like China and Japan. It uses culture from places like Cambodia, the Philippines, and Laos. That is a huge step forward in the film/animation industry considering the lack of minorities in the media.

I would 100% recommend this movie to any and everybody. Watch it with family or on your own you will not be disappointed.
